Februar/März 2006: drei Wochen Ostafrika mit Christoph (BMW GS) und seiner Frau Katrin – beide schon auf der Ladakh/Nepal-Tour 2005 dabei. Ziel waren die Berggorillas in Kongo und Ruanda sowie die Besteigung des Ruwenzori-Gebirges.
Der Ruwenzori: anstrengende Tour durch verschlammte Urwaldwege in großer Höhe, oben eisig kalt – zumal mir mein Schlafsack gestohlen wurde. Die Begegnung mit den Berggorillas im Dichten Regenwald war schlicht unvergessllich.
Dazu der Murchison-Nationalpark mit den beeindruckenden Nilfällen, das Schimpansenreservat und die ostafrikanische Savanne mit ihrer Tierwelt. Eine Reise voller Kontraste – von tropischer Hitze bis zum Gletschereis.
February/March 2006: three weeks in East Africa with Christoph (BMW GS) and his wife Katrin – both already on the 2005 Ladakh/Nepal tour. The goal was mountain gorillas in Congo and Rwanda, and an ascent of the Ruwenzori.
The Ruwenzori: a demanding trek through muddy jungle paths at high altitude, bitterly cold at the top – particularly since my sleeping bag was stolen. The encounter with mountain gorillas in the dense rainforest was simply unforgettable.
Also on the agenda: Murchison Falls National Park with its spectacular Nile cataracts, the chimpanzee reserve and the East African savannah with its wildlife. A journey of contrasts – from tropical heat to glacial ice.
