Ein besonderes Abenteuer: das Motorrad per LKW von der TLO-Spedition nach Almaty/Kasachstan transportieren lassen, von dort in die zentralasiatischen Republiken. Die Uhren gehen dort anders – bürokratische Wartezeiten, aber unendlich herzliche Menschen.
Die Route führte durch Kasachstan, Kirgisistan mit dem Tian-Shan-Gebirge, Tadschikistan mit dem Pamir – einer der entlegensten Gebirgsregionen der Welt – und durch Usbekistan mit seinen Seidenstraßen-Juwelen Samarkand, Buchara und Chiwa.
Unterwegs hauptsächlich mit einer kleinen Nikon Coolpix 5700 Digitalkamera fotografiert – daher fehlen die sonst geschätzten Superweitwinkelaufnahmen. Das ganz besondere Licht der Steppe und des Pamir entschädigt.
A very special adventure: the motorcycle transported by lorry to Almaty/Kazakhstan, then on into the Central Asian republics. Clocks run differently there – bureaucratic delays, but infinitely warm-hearted people.
The route crossed Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan with the Tian Shan mountains, Tajikistan with the Pamir – one of the world's most remote mountain regions – and Uzbekistan with its Silk Road jewels of Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
Photographed mainly with a compact Nikon Coolpix 5700 – hence the absence of the ultra-wide shots usually valued so highly. The extraordinary light of the steppe and the Pamir more than compensates.
