Eine der intensivsten Reisen meines Lebens: mit dem Lavateam (Stefan, Andi – Geologe und Vulkanguide) durch Indonesien im August/September 2019. Kaum gelandet in Jakarta, schon weiter zum Anak Krakatau – ein Jahr nach der verheerenden Explosion und dem Tsunami 2018, eine Bestandsaufnahme. Dann Sulawesi, Fähre nach Siau, drei Nächte am Karangetang mit zwei gleichzeitig aktiven Kratern, Milchstraße ohne jede Lichtverschmutzung.
Nord-Molukken: der Ibu mit spektakulären Eruptionen, der Dukono – laut, schmutzig, unglaublich aktiv. Weiter nach Sulawesi (Lokon, Soputan), ins Torajaland mit seinen alten Totenkulten, dann Java: Semeru-Nationalpark, Bromo-Vulkan, Merapi. Jeder Vulkan ein eigenes Erlebnis – Schlaf war Luxus.
Den Abschluss bildete Sumatra: Orang-Utans im Bukit Lawang Schutzgebiet (als einzige Besucher – unvergesslich), der gefährliche Sinabung, der Toba-See mit der Insel Samosir im Riesenkrater, und die farbigen Thermal-Terrassen des Blue Crater. Dank an Andi für den exzellenten Support. 720 Fotos aus einer Tour, die kaum zu übertreffen ist.
One of the most intense journeys of my life: with the lava team (Stefan, Andi – geologist and volcano guide) through Indonesia in August/September 2019. Barely landed in Jakarta before continuing to Anak Krakatau – a year after the devastating 2018 explosion and tsunami, a damage assessment. Then Sulawesi, ferry to Siau, three nights at Karangetang with two simultaneously active craters, Milky Way with zero light pollution.
North Moluccas: Ibu volcano with spectacular eruptions, Dukono – loud, filthy, incredibly active. On to Sulawesi (Lokon, Soputan), into Torajaland with its ancient death rituals, then Java: Semeru National Park, Bromo volcano, Merapi. Every volcano a world of its own – sleep was a luxury.
The finale was Sumatra: orang-utans in Bukit Lawang sanctuary (as the only visitors – unforgettable), the dangerous Sinabung, Lake Toba with Samosir Island inside the giant caldera, and the colourful thermal terraces of Blue Crater. Thanks to Andi for excellent support throughout. 720 photographs from a trip that is hard to surpass.
